1. In the telecom sector, the Cabinet approves 100 percent FDI using the automatic route.
- On September 15, 2021, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, authorised a variety of structural and process reforms in the Telecom industry to provide relief to struggling telecom service providers.
- The Union Cabinet has approved a total of 9 structural and 5 process reforms.
2. The Cabinet has approved a PLI scheme for the automobile and drone industries for Rs 26,058 crore.
- The Union Cabinet has approved a Manufacturing Linked Incentive (PLI) programme for the automobile sector, with a budgetary allocation of Rs 26,058 crores, to boost domestic production of components like as vehicles, auto parts, and other related items.
- The vehicle industry has been allocated Rs 25,938 crores from the total budget of Rs 26,058 crores, while the drone industry has been allocated Rs 120 crores.
3. The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NITI Aayog) has released a report titled “Reforms in Urban Planning Capacity in India.”
- The NITI Aayog has released a paper titled “Reforms in Urban Planning Ability in India,” which outlines steps to improve India’s urban planning capacity.
- The study was jointly released by NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar, CEO Shri Amitabh Kant, and Special Secretary Dr K. Rajeswara Rao on September 16, 2021.
4. Nitin Gadkari Examines India’s Longest Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari examined the progress of the 1,380-kilometer Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is being built at a cost of Rs 98,000 crores.
- Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi would be served by the eight-lane Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
5. Kashmir (Jammu and Kashmir) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announces the beginning of the “One Gram Panchayat, One DIGI-Pay Sakhi” mission.
- On September 14, 2021, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir inaugurated a new mission named “One Gram Panchayat-One DIGI-Pay Sakhi.”
- The DIGI-Pay programme intends to promote door-to-door digital banking and financial services in the Union Territory’s rural districts.

6. Australia is collaborating with the United Kingdom and the United States to acquire its first nuclear-powered submarine.
- Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States have established a new trilateral security collaboration, with Australia’s first initiative being the development of nuclear-powered submarines.
- The new AUKUS (Australia, United Kingdom, United States) alliance aims to expand the grouping’s already strong security cooperation and develop connections in the Indo-Pacific area.

7. For the development of MSMEs, Sidbi engages with the Assam government.
- The Small Industries Development Bank of India (Sidbi) said it took part in a special event to strengthen state cooperation conducted at the Administrative Staff College in Guwahati, Assam.
- KK Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, highlighted the state’s expectations on three primary themes: startups, cluster development, and livelihood and enterprise promotion, during the event.
8. Escorts has partnered with IndusInd Bank to provide financing to farmers.
- Escorts Ltd has teamed with IndusInd Bank to provide finance solutions to farmers in order to make its range of tractors and farm equipment more accessible.
- Farmers would have easy access to financial help in the form of loans from IndusInd Bank.
9. Issues by Power Finance Corp On September 13, 2021, India’s Power Finance Corporation (PFC), a non-banking financial organisation (NBFC) under the power ministry, announced the issuance of its first 300-million-euro seven-year Euro Bond.
- The yield on the 7-year bond is 1.841 percent. This Euro Green Bond is India’s first ever Euro-denominated Green Bond issuance. It’s also the first time an Indian NBFC has issued a Euro bond. With the offering, PFC has expanded its international fundraising into the European market.
10. Punjab & Sind Bank (PSB), a public sector bank, has partnered with Indiabulls Commercial Credit and Indiabulls Housing Finance (IHFL) for MSME and Priority Sector Housing Loans, respectively.
- Because of the lower cost of funds from banks and the larger reach of NBFCs/HFLs, the co-lending model will increase the flow of credit to the unserved and underserved sectors of the economy and make money available to the final recipient at an affordable cost.

11. Aziz Hajini, a well-known Kashmiri writer, has died.
- Former secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages and noted writer After a brief illness, Aziz Hajini died in Srinagar. He was 64 years old at the time.
- Hajini, who was born in the Hajin Sonawari area of Bandipora district in north Kashmir, held a number of positions in academic and literary circles, including secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, as well as authoring multiple works.
12. Yuriy Sedykh, a two-time Olympic hammer gold medalist, has died.
- Yuriy Sedykh, a two-time Olympic hammer throw champion whose 1986 world record still stands, has died. He was 66 years old at the time.
- Sedykh won gold in the 1976 and 1980 Olympics, but was unable to compete in the 1984 Olympics due to a Soviet boycott. In 1988, he earned silver at the Seoul Olympics, and in 1991, he won the world title.
