1. To revive traditional crafts in J&K, the government has launched the ‘Karkhandar’ scheme.
- In a noteworthy milestone, the J&K government issued directives to give a new push to handicraft training in the UT by launching the ‘KARKHANDAR’ plan, which is a unique concept in terms of artisan and weaver upliftment through training.
- The programme will help not only the high-potential crafts, but also the languishing ones. Glazed tiles, silver ware, and filligree are among the languishing crafts that will be taken up for complete resurrection in the first instance.
2. Odisha is the country’s first state to provide digital “Smart Health Cards” for free treatment.
- On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana will deliver Smart Health Cards to 3.5 crore people in the state.
- The plan, according to the Chief Minister, will alter the health-care delivery system and make history in the country’s health-care sector. He said that the decision will herald in a new era in the state’s health care system.
3. The Health Minister has announced a package worth over 1300 crore rupees for infrastructural development in the North Eastern states’ health sector.
- Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, has announced a package worth over 1300 crore rupees for the development of health facilities in the North Eastern states.
- To counteract the pandemic, the Central Government is providing this funding for the construction of health infrastructure at the district level.
4. The total number of dwellings approved under PMAY-U now stands at 1.13 crore.
- At the 55th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs accepted plans for the construction of 16,488 dwellings (PMAY-U).
- The dwellings will be built under the PMAY-U verticals of Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP). With this, the total number of dwellings sanctioned under PMAY-U has surpassed 113 lakh.
5. Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, has launched the ‘Photographic Record Of On-Site Facility’ (PROOF) App.
- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir announced PROOF, a mobile application designed to increase openness and accountability in the government system.

6. According to reports, Ghaziabad will be the world’s second most polluted city in 2020.
- According to a report prepared by the British company HouseFresh, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh is the second most polluted city in the world in 2020, out of the 50 “most polluted cities” worldwide. According to the report, Ghaziabad has an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 2.5 particle matter (PM) in 106.6g/m3.
- According to the research, China’s Hotan province has the world’s most polluted city, with PM2.5 levels of 110.2g/m3. According to the survey, sandstorms caused by Hotan’s closeness to the Taklimakan Desert are to blame for the city’s poor air quality.

- To measure the amount of financial inclusion in India, the Reserve Bank of India produced a composite Financial Inclusion Index (FI-Index).
- For the year ending March 2021, the annual FI-Index is 53.9, compared to 43.4 for the period ending March 2017. The FI-Index will be released annually in July, according to the RBI.
9. The FRUITS site has been launched by KVG Bank.
- In collaboration with the Karnataka government, the Dharwad-based Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) has created the ‘Farmer Registration and Unified Beneficiary Information System’ (FRUITS) online.
- The FRUITS portal is the first of its kind in the country, capturing the land and other information of all of the state’s farmers.

11. PayNearby has partnered with RBL Bank and Visa to provide payment devices.
