1. Mana Ooru Mana Badi is a Telangana government initiative.
- The Telangana government established the Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme to build educational infrastructure in the state.
- It is expected to cost Rs 7,289 crores to implement. The programme will assist more than 19.84 lakh children.
2. MSDE and IGNOU have inked an agreement to link vocational and higher education.
- To strengthen the vocational and technical training framework, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has inked an MoU with Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU).
- National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI), Industrial Training Institutes (ITI), PMKK, and JSS trainees.
3. Odisha and the World Food Programme teamed up to increase food security and farmer resilience.
- Odisha’s government and the UN’s World Food Programme have teamed up to improve the food security of India’s small and marginal farmers by strengthening their resilience to climate change.
- Customized climate warnings will be created as part of a participatory pilot project to help smallholder farmers adapt to the effects of climate change.

4. Nusantara has been chosen as Indonesia’s new capital.
- East Kalimantan, located to the east of Borneo Island, was chosen as the next capital of Indonesia. Nusantara will be the name of the country’s next capital.
- President Joko Widodo of Indonesia first stated the idea to relocate the capital from Jakarta in 2019.

5. SIDBI approved a loan of 650 crores to AU Small Finance Bank and Jana Small Finance Bank. Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) approved a loan of 650 crores to AU Small Finance Bank and Jana Small Finance Bank.
- Small Finance Banks will use the funds to help small non-banking financial businesses (NBFCs), micro finance institutions (MFIs), and micro entrepreneurs.
6. Canara Bank has teamed with Lendingkart to provide MSMEs with online loans.
- Lendingkart and Canara Bank have announced a co-lending collaboration to provide low-cost business loans of up to Rs. 10 lakh to micro, small, and medium businesses (MSMEs).
- The Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) category MSMEs are covered by the Co-Lending arrangement with Lendingkart Finance Limited.
7. MobiKwik has teamed with NPCI Bharat BillPay to offer ClickPay bill payment services.
- MobiKwik, a mobile wallet Fintech firm, has teamed with NPCI Bharat BillPay Ltd. (NBBL) to provide its consumers the ‘ClickPay’ service.
- Customers of MobiKwik can use their mobile phone to pay periodic online bills such as mobile, gas, water, electricity, DTH, insurance, and loan EMIs.

8. Roberta Metsola (43), a center-right Maltese member, has been elected as the European Union’s (EU) Parliament’s (EU) youngest President.
- Despite controversy over her anti-abortion attitude, she is the only third woman to lead the European Parliament. She is a member of the European People’s Party, the largest bloc, which received a significant majority of 458 votes.
9. Shashank Goel has been appointed as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labour.
- Shashank Goel, an IAS officer from the 1990 batch, has been named Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
- He had previously served as Telangana’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). In addition to him, Shailesh Kumar Singh (IAS 1991 batch) has been assigned to the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises as Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner.

- Narayan Debnath, a legendary Bengali comics artist, writer, and illustrator, died after a protracted illness.
- Handa Bhonda (1962), Bantul the Great (1965), and Nonte Phonte were among the renowned Bengali comic strips created by the celebrated artist (1969).
12. Legendary Collarwali Tigress dies at Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. India’s Supermom tigress, widely known as ‘Collarwali,’ died at the Pench Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Madhya Pradesh. In 2008, she was the park’s first tigress to be fitted with a radio collar.
- In 2005, the Collarwali tigress was born. She was famous for having 29 cubs in her lifetime, which is said to be a world record.
13. Major Ahluwalia, a mountaineer who received the Padma Shri award, died.
- Major HPS Ahluwalia (Retired), the founder of the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC) in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, in 1993, a professional mountaineer, and a Padma Shri laureate, died at the age of 85.
- Major Ahluwalia, then 26 years old, was a member of the first Indian expedition to summit Mount Everest in 1965, reaching the summit on May 29, 1965.

14. Raising Day for the NDRF is on January 19th.
- Since its inception on January 19, 2006, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has celebrated its Raising Day every year on January 19.
- The NDRF will celebrate its 17th Raising Day in 2022. There are 12 NDRF battalions deployed around the country, with a total of 13,000 NDRF members working to make the country safer.
15. The week of January 17-21, 2022 will be known as Open Data Week.
- The Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), will have an Open Data Week in the third week of January 2022, from the 17th to the 21st, to stimulate the use of open data and promote innovation across India’s urban ecosystem.
- MoHUA organises Open Data Week to raise awareness and encourage the use of open data.
