1. While speaking to the country on the first anniversary of the NEP, Prime Minister Modi announced various educational programmes.
- On July 29, 2021, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi delivered a video message to the nation to commemorate one year since the announcement of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
- PM launched a number of education-related initiatives as part of the event.
2. The Rajasthan government has launched “Mission Niryatak Bano” to improve the state’s exports.
- The Rajasthan government has launched a new campaign called “Mission Niryatak Bano” to promote aspiring exporters in the state, raise total exports from the state, and expand job possibilities.
- The Rajasthan Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and the State Government’s Industrial Department have begun a campaign to assist local traders who want to grow their business into international countries.
3. The 112th Annual Day festivities of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) were presided over by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Dr. Bharati Pawar, MoS, who unveiled the National Health Adaptation Plan on Air Pollution (HFW).
- The Union Health Minister electronically launched the Whole Genome Sequencing National Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), as well as a PG hostel and Guest House, at the ceremony.
- The L3 laboratory complex is made upon five storeys and has 22 BSL II facilities.

4. 18 Indian banks have invested in a new blockchain company, IBBIC
- 18 Indian banks have teamed up to form a new fintech company called ‘IBBIC Pvt Ltd (IBBIC)’ to employ blockchain technology in the financial services sector.
- IBBIC was founded in May 2021 as a financial technology company with the goal of providing a platform for exploring, building, and implementing Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) solutions for the Indian financial services sector, including the development of DLT platforms, applications, and ventures.
5. Following Adar Poonawalla’s acquisition of Magma Fincorp, the company was renamed Poonawalla Fincorp.
- After Adar Poonawalla-led Rising Sun Holdings bought a controlling position in the non-banking lending company, Magma Fincorp was renamed Poonawalla Fincorp with effect from July 22. (NBFC).
- Through an equity infusion of Rs 3,456 crore, Rising Sun Holdings acquired a controlling share in the NBFC. On May 21, the purchase was completed, and on May 31, Adar Poonawalla was named Chairman of the business.

6. At the end of June, the federal government’s fiscal deficit had reached 18.2% of its yearly objective.
- According to figures issued by the Controller General of Accounts, the Central Government’s fiscal deficit at the end of June was Rs 2.74 lakh crore, or 18.2 percent of the entire year’s Budget forecast (CGA).
- At the end of June 2020, the fiscal deficit was 83.2 percent of the Budget Estimates (BE) for 2020-21. At the end of June, the fiscal deficit stood at Rs 2,74,245 crore in absolute terms.

7. Vice Admiral SN Ghormade assumes command of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral SN Ghormade (AVSM, NM) assumed command of the Naval Staff on July 31, 2021, at a solemn ceremony in New Delhi.
- Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar, who retired on July 31, 2021 after more than 39 years of distinguished service, is his successor.

8. Uttrakhand’s Labhanshu Sharma wins the Bharat Kesari Wrestling Dangal.
- Labhanshu Sharma, an Indian wrestler, made history by winning the Bharat Kesari Wrestling Dangal 2021, which was held in Tamil Nadu this year.
- Labhanshu has ended the state’s drought and been named Bharat Kesari for the first time in the state’s 20-year history.

9. Asha Bhosle, a legendary playback singer, has been nominated for the Maharashtra Bhushan Award for 2021.
- The Maharashtra Bhushan Selection Committee, chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has unanimously chosen Asha Bhosle for the coveted Maharashtra Bhushan Puraskar for the year 2021.
- The Maharashtra Bhushan Award, established in 1996, is the highest honour bestowed by the Maharashtra government to recognise the remarkable labour and achievements of eminent Maharashtrians from various walks of life.
10. Sai Life Sciences has been awarded the Golden Peacock National Training Award for the year 2021.
- Sai Life Sciences, one of India’s fastest-growing Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organizations (CRDMOs), has been awarded the Golden Peacock National Training Award in the pharmaceutical category for the year 2021.
- Following the Golden Peacock National Quality Award, it got in 2020, this is the company’s second Golden Peacock Award in a row.
11. Chairman of the Serum Institute, Cyrus Poonawalla, has been awarded the Lokmanya Tilak National Award.
- The coveted Lokmanya Tilak National Award for 2021 has been selected for Dr Cyrus Poonawalla, Chairman of the Pune-based vaccine producer Serum Institute of India (SII).
- Mr. Poonawalla was honoured for his role in developing the Covishield vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic.

13. Man Kaur, a 100-year-old sprinter, has died.
- Man Kaur, dubbed the “Miracle from Chandigarh,” died of a heart attack at the age of 100. She lived to be 105 years old.
- Patiala’s multiple World Masters Games medalist received her first medal in 2010 in the Chandigarh Master’s, where she was discovered by David Premnath, the general secretary of the Masters Athletic Federation of India.

16. 1st August: World Lung Cancer Day
- Every year on August 1st, World Lung Cancer Day is commemorated to promote awareness about the causes and treatment of lung cancer, as well as to emphasise the lack of enough research funding for the disease.
- The Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) launched the campaign in 2012, in partnership with the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the American College of Chest Physicians.
