National
1. The Chandigarh Administration and the Indian Air Force have signed a memorandum of understanding for a history centre.
- The Chandigarh administration and the Indian Air Force reached an in-principle agreement to establish the country’s first Air Force Heritage Centre. The centre will be located in Sector 18 of the Government Press Building.
- The Indian Air Force (IAF) will display antique aircraft, weaponry, souvenirs, and other IAF artefacts, as well as audio-visual shows.
2. More than Rs 13,385 crore has been disbursed to 25 states for funding to Rural Local Bodies.
- Over 13 thousand 385 crore rupees has been issued by the Finance Ministry to 25 states for grants to Rural Local Bodies. The grants were distributed in accordance with the 15th Finance Commission’s recommendations.
- So far this fiscal year, around 25 thousand 129 crore rupees have been given to rural local bodies.
3. The NPS rules have changed: the entry age has been raised, and the exit norms have been amended.
- The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has altered the requirements for persons entering the National Pension Scheme (NPS) after the age of 65, which is a big relief for pension subscribers. PFRDA has eased the exit restrictions and allowed them to allocate up to 50% of the capital in equity under a new set of guidelines.
- Following the increase in the maximum age for joining the NPS from 65 to 70 years old, the pension fund amended its entry and exit standards. The NPS entry age has been changed from 18-65 years to 18-70 years.
4. PM Modi honours ISKCON Founder Swami Prabhupada with a commemorative coin.
- On the 125th birth anniversary of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the Hare Krishna movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued an unique commemorative coin worth Rs 125 through videoconferencing.
- Swami Prabhuprada was an Indian religious leader and the founder of the Hare Krishna movement and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). Prabhupada, also known as Abhay Charan De, was born in Kolkata in 1896 and owned a pharmacy before leaving India in 1959 to promote Krishna’s teachings.
5. Over Rs. 8,800 crore has been deposited to the bank accounts of pregnant and lactating women under the PMMVY scheme. Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani has stated that nourishment must be inexpensive and accessible to the poor.
- According to her, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana has sent approximately Rs. 8,800 crore to the bank accounts of pregnant women and breastfeeding moms.
6. The 8th meeting of BIMSTEC agriculture experts is being held virtually in India.
- The 8th Meeting of Agriculture Experts from the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Countries was held virtually in India. The day-long discussion was headed by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
- During the meeting, Dr. Mohapatra discussed the UN Food System Summit 2021 as well as the worldwide developments in agriculture and food systems.
7. The Maharashtra government has launched a specific programme for women who have lost their husbands as a result of COVID.
- The Maharashtra government has launched a specific mission to provide around 18 perks, programmes, and services to women who have lost their husbands owing to COVID.
- A new programme called “Mission Vatsalya” has been created for widows, particularly those from rural areas and low-income families.

8. Morocco and Algeria participate in naval exercises with the Indian Navy.
- The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tabar took part in a Maritime Partnership Exercise with the Algerian Navy ship ‘Ezzadjer’ as part of its extended goodwill mission to Europe and Africa.
- INS Tabar made a port call in Casablanca, Morocco, as part of her overseas deployment, and took part in a Maritime Partnership Exercise with the Royal Moroccan Navy ship “Lieutenant Colonel Arrahman” off the coast of Casablanca.
9. The Minister of Petroleum attends the 6th EEF Summit in Russia.
- Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is leading a government and corporate delegation to Vladivostok, Russia, for the 6th Eastern Economic Forum EEF Summit.
- Minister Mr Puri’s maiden trip outside of India will be his first since taking office as Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

10. Jica signs a loan deal in India to help women gain access to financial services.
- Northern Arc Capital (NAC), an Indian financial institution, has signed a 50 million dollar (about Rs 368 crore) loan arrangement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to assist non-bank financial firms that provide financial services to women.
- Based on the Facility for Accelerating Financial Inclusion in Asia (FAIA) announced on March 27, 2020, the loan would be given through co-financing with the United States International Development Finance Corporation (USDFC).
11. LIC uses IDBI Intech’s revolutionary anti-money laundering technology.
- IDBI Intech Ltd., a technology-led business transformation firm that specialises in banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) verticals, has successfully implemented its iAML (Anti Money Laundering) solution at India’s insurance behemoth, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
- Using Advanced Analytics, Workflow, and Artificial Intelligence with a comprehensive collection of pre-built rules and scenarios, iAML will deliver an Enterprise-Wide Single View of Risk & Compliance at the transaction and customer level.
12. The Advanced Executive Program in Cybersecurity will be offered by IIIT-Bangalore and NPCI.
- An advanced executive programme in cybersecurity will be offered jointly by the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bangalore and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
- The training is aimed towards mid-level management professionals in the banking, cybersecurity, and finance industries who have prior technical knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals.

13. India’s real GDP growth DP growth prediction for 2021 is unchanged at 9.6%, according to Moody’s.
- In its August update to the ‘Global Macro Outlook 2021-22′ report, Moody’s Investors Service kept India’s GDP prediction for the calendar year (CY) 2021 at 9.6%.
- The prediction for GDP growth in calendar year 2022 has been kept at 7%.
14. The Rabobank Global Dairy Top 20 Report for 2021 has been issued — Lactalis tops from France, Amul 18th century.
- In Rabobank’s 2021 Global Top 20 Dairy Companies list, Amul, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), has lost two positions to 18th. In the year 2020, Amul was ranked 16th. Amul has a 5.3 billion dollar annual turnover.
- Lactalis, a French dairy firm, has topped the list as the world’s largest dairy company, with a revenue of $23.0 billion dollars.
- It has dethroned Nestle, the worldwide conglomerate based in Switzerland, which had ruled the list for decades.
15. India’s GDP growth picks up after a drop in Covid, rising 20.1 percent in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
- The country’s gross domestic product, or GDP, increased by 20.1 percent in the April-June quarter of this fiscal year. Its best-ever fiscal-quarter results, according to data issued by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
- GDP is expected to reach 32.38 lakh crore rupees in the first quarter of 2021-22, up from 26.95 lakh crore rupees in the same time of the previous fiscal year, representing a 20.1 percent increase.

- The Noisiel International Open 2021 Chess Tournament was won by Indian Grandmaster P Iniyan, who scored eight points from nine rounds in the Classical event after taking first place in the Blitz component.
