1. The government plans to launch the PM Adarsh Gram Yojna, which will encompass 36 thousand communities across the country.
- Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda announced that his ministry would launch the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojna, which will cover 36 thousand villages across the country.
- Mr. Munda stated that villages having a tribal population of 50% or more would be given precedence.
2. The Centre has formed a Group of Ministers (GoM) to improve the execution of initiatives for SC, ST, OBC, minorities, and women.
- For improved execution of different social initiatives for SC, ST, OBC, minorities, and women, the Centre has formed a group of ministers (GoM) chaired by Rajnath Singh.
- The news comes ahead of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and other states scheduled for early next year.
3. Manipur’s Sirarakhong Chilli and Tamenglong Orange have been designated as Geographical Indications.
- Hathei chilly, also known as Sirarakhong chilli, and Tamenglong Orange are two well-known Manipur goods that have been given the Geographical Index (GI) label.
- A Geographical Indication (GI) tag is a label given to products with a specified geographical area or origin.
4. Sikkim has designated the ‘Katley’ as its official fish.
- The state fish of Sikkim has been designated as the Cooper Mahseer, commonly known as “Katley.”
- Cooper Mahseer’s scientific name is Neolissochilus hexagonolepis.

6. IIFL Home Finance enters a co-lending agreement with PNB.
- IIFL Home Finance Ltd. (IIFLHFL) announced that it has struck a co-lending arrangement with Punjab National Bank (PNB). With this partnership, IIFLHFL plans to increase its loan book by 25%.
- Customers will be served throughout the loan cycle, according to the HFC, which includes sourcing, documentation, collection, and loan servicing. This partnership will enable it to expand its reach into the affordable housing loan and secured MSME loan markets.
7. Tata Capital has launched a new digital ‘loan against mutual funds’ product.

8. For Development Officers, LIC has launched the ‘Pragati’ App.
- The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has released a new mobile app for Development Officers only.
- PRAGATI (Performance Review Application, Growth And Trend Indicator) is a comprehensive mobile application that provides near real-time information on the performance of their agency force in critical areas of business such as premium collection and agency activation, as well as monitoring team activities like agent mobile app usage and NACH validations.

9. The NITI Aayog has partnered with Byju’s to equip schools with study materials.
- Students in government schools in 112 “Aspirational Districts” will get free access to the company’s “premium learning tools,” thanks to a partnership between the NITI Aayog and edutech behemoth BYJU’S.
- BYJU’S will also provide “free” engineering and medical entrance examination preparation classes to approximately 3,000 “deserving” students in Classes 11 and 12 through Aakash Institute.
10. In September, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) invested over Rs 16,000 crore in the Indian capital market.
- So far in September, foreign investors have pushed nearly 16,000 crore rupees into the Indian capital market.
- Foreign Portfolio Investors, or FPIs, invested 11,287 crore rupees in shares and 5,018 crore rupees in debt, according to depositories statistics.

11. Satyarthi was nominated by the United Nations as an advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals.
- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has named Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi as a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Advocate ahead of the start of the 76th UN General Assembly.
- According to a UN news release, Guterres named Satyarthi, STEM activist Valentina Munoz Rabanal, Microsoft President Brad Smith, and K-pop singers BLACKPINK as new SDG Advocates.
12. Captain Amarinder Singh resigns as Punjab chief minister, and Charanjit Singh Channi is sworn in as the next chief minister.
- Charanjit Singh Channi, the new Chief Minister of Punjab, was sworn in at Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh. He became the state’s 16th Chief Minister. Governor Banwarilal Purohit took his oath of office and confidentiality.

19. Noted Manorama Mohapatra, an Odia poet, has died.
- Manorama Mohapatra, an eminent poet, social worker, and former editor of the Odia daily ‘The Samaja,’ has died. She was 87 years old at the time.
- In 1998, Mohapatra took over as editor of the Odia daily from her father, Dr Radhanath Rath. She has previously contributed to the newspaper as a columnist, providing analytical and critical analysis of current topics under the ‘Jhitipiti Kahe Satakshi’ column. Mohapatra is the author of more than 40 books and novels.
20. Bouteflika, Algeria’s former president, has died.
- Former Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika died at the age of 84, according to the presidency, more than two years after resigning in the face of enormous protests and the army.
- Bouteflika, a veteran of Algeria’s independence war, controlled the North African country for two decades before stepping down in April 2019 following street protests against his bid for a fifth term.
