1. In Uttarakhand, India’s tallest herbal park was opened near the Indo-China border.
- At a height of 11,000 feet, India’s highest altitude herbal park was opened at Mana village in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, close to the Indo-China border.
- The primary goal of this high-altitude herbal park is to protect a variety of medicinal and culturally significant alpine species while also doing research on their propagation and habitat ecology.
2. Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi chief minister, inaugurates the country’s first smog tower.
- Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister, unveiled the country’s first smog tower on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in the Connaught Place neighbourhood of the national capital.
- Within a 1 kilometre radius, the tower will cleanse 1,000 cubic metres of air each second.
3. Assam Electronics Development Corporation Limited (AMTRON) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Corsight AI, an Israel-based business, to establish an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence at a Tech City near Guwahati.
- Corsight AI will assist AMTRON in developing a strong Face Recognition Technology Development and Services portfolio, as well as establishing a Facial Recognition Center of Excellence, as part of the agreement.
4. The Supreme Court has decided that women can take the NDA exam.
- The Supreme Court has issued an interim order allowing women to sit the National Defense Academy (NDA) exam, which is set to take place on September 5, 2021.
- The country’s highest court has recently chastised the Indian Army for making decisions based on “gender discrimination.”
5. In three years, the centre will organise a panel to double handloom production and double exports.
- In a three-year period, the Union government has formed a committee to double handloom production and quadruple exports.
- Sunil Sethi, Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India, will be in charge. Within 45 days of the group’s formation, the committee will submit its final report.
6. By the end of the year, India will have added 35 more seismic observatories: Jitendra Singh, M.D.
- Minister for Earth Sciences in the Union According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, India will have 35 more earthquake observatories by the end of the year.
- In the following five years, he claims, 100 more similar observatories would be erected. He said that the country had only 115 Earthquake Observatories in the six and a half decades since Independence, but that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm, there will be a quantum rise in the number of Earthquake Observatories in the country.

7. IISc Bangalore and Calcutta University are among India’s top universities, according to the ARWU rankings.
- In the most current Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) published by Shanghai Ranking, none of the Indian universities made the top 100. Only the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore is ranked among the top 500 universities in the world.
- The United States continues to dominate the global rankings, with 40 colleges in the top 100, 129 in the top 500, and 200 in the top 1000. The United Kingdom has 65 universities in the top 1000, 38 of which are in the top 500, and eight of which are in the top 100.
8. India and Qatar are participating in the ‘Zair-Al-Bahr’ naval drill.
- In the Persian Gulf, the Indian Navy and the Qatar Emiri Naval Force (QENF) conducted the second edition of the Zair-Al-Bahr joint naval exercise.
- The exercise consisted of a three-day harbour phase followed by a two-day sea phase in this edition. Surface action, anti-piracy drills, air defence, maritime surveillance, boarding operations, and search and rescue exercises were all part of the sea phase.

9. Razorpay, a Capital Float partner, offers a buy now, pay later solution.
- Capital Float announced a partnership with Razorpay to extend its Walnut 369 buy now, pay later (BNPL) offering to all Razorpay-enabled online businesses.
- Clients can sign up while browsing, be approved instantaneously, and pay for items over three, six, or nine months, according to the company, which claims that the credit option provides customers with convenience and affordability while also increasing order value for merchants.
10. USAID and DFC have partnered with Kotak Bank to provide a $50 million loan guarantee for women and small businesses in India.
- The US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) announced that they will jointly sponsor a $50 million loan portfolio guarantee to Kotak Mahindra Bank to help women borrowers and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India gain access to credit.
- This is in response to the covid-19 pandemic, according to a statement from the US embassy, which also stated that the cooperation will make it easier for MSMEs affected by the pandemic to obtain loans to rebuild and expand up their operations
11. SBI opens a floating ATM aboard a houseboat in Srinagar’s Dal Lake.
- The State Bank of India (SBI) recently opened an ATM atop a houseboat in Srinagar’s Dal Lake. It was inaugurated by SBI Chairman Shri Dinesh Kumar Khara and is known as the floating ATM.
- According to the banks, this was done in an attempt to become a much-needed tourist destination that would add to Srinagar’s beauty.

12. The SINE programme, launched by Intel and IIT Bombay, aims to expedite Industry 4.0.
- Intel India has created Plugin Alliance, a first-of-its-kind industry-technology grouping with a focus on accelerating Industry 4.0 transformation in India, in conjunction with Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SINE)-IIT Bombay.
- Large corporations, small and medium businesses, technological solution providers, systems integrators, startups, and the startup ecosystem, which includes funding partners, appropriate incubators, government, and industry groups, are all represented by Plugin Alliance members.
13. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has introduced Urja, an AI-enabled chatbot. Urja is a virtual assistant with AI/NLP (Artificial Intelligence/Natural Language Processing) capabilities and has been trained on over 600 use cases.
- Urja, the chabot, is now available on the corporate website for any B2B and B2C queries, with the goal of making BPCL’s client interface comprehensive and integrated digitally.

15 . Chitra, a Malayalam actress, has died.
- Chithra, a Malayalam actor who also appeared in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films, died. At her residence in Chennai, she had a heart attack. She was 56 years old at the time.
- Chithra was a well-known figure in South Indian cinema. In her first film, Attakalasham, released in 1983, she collaborated with Mohanlal and Prem Nazir, among others. Adavitam, Nadodi, Ekalavyan, Devasuram, Commissioner, Aaram Thampuran, and Ustad were among her other successful Malayalam dramas.
