1. The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh has introduced an app called “Apna Kangra” to promote local handicrafts through tourism.
- Jai Ram Thakur, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, unveiled the ‘Apna Kangra’ app and hampers made by self-help groups (SHGs) in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.
- The app promises to provide tourists with a hassle-free experience while also increasing sales of local goods.
2. Jerri hamlet in Reasi District has been designated as J&K’s first Milk Village.
- The government of Jammu and Kashmir has designated the Jerri settlement (Jerri hamlet) in Reasi district as the Union Territory’s first ‘Milk Village.’
- The administration has also approved 57 more dairy farms for the hamlet under the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS).
3. Karnataka was the first state in India to establish an AVGC Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.
- In Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, Karnataka, the government of Karnataka has opened India’s first AVGC Center of Excellence (CoE) (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics).
- Under its Innovate Karnataka project, AVGC CoE created a pioneering high-tech digital media hub. The Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology, and Science and Technology is funding the project.
4. Haryana and Himachal Pradesh have signed an agreement to restore the Saraswati River.
- The governments of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh have struck an agreement to restore the Saraswati River in Panchkula.
- The Haryana government would build a dam and reservoir in the Adi Badri area near Yamunanagar district, which is on the Himachal Pradesh border. The Saraswati River is said to have its origins in Adi-Badri.
5. The ‘Climate of India in 2021’ report was produced by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
- On January 21, 2022, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released its “Climate of India in 2021” report.
- According to the research, the year 2021 was the sixth warmest in India since national records began in 1901. The year with the most warming was 2016.

6. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley was sworn in for a second term as Prime Minister of Barbados. On May 25, 2018, she was elected as Barbados’ eighth and first female Prime Minister.
- She is also the first female Prime Minister of Barbados to serve a second term. She is a member of the Barbados Labor Party (BLP), which won all 30 seats in the Legislature of Assembly, Barbados’ lower house.

7. Kotak Mahindra Bank and GIFT SEZ have struck an agreement to develop the financial services ecosystem at the IFSC.
- To boost customers’ total financial services offerings, Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited has signed an MoU with Gujarat International Finance Tec-city – Special Economic Zone (GIFT SEZ) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GIFT-City.
- KMBL and GIFT SEZ will collaborate to promote the GIFT International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) as a jurisdiction for Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) structures, as well as organise seminars and knowledge series, and provide Global Custody Services.
8. LIVE at IIM Kozhikode has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Bank to provide loans up to Rs 50 crore to start-ups.
- The Laboratory for Innovation Venturing and Entrepreneurship (LIVE) at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has inked an MoU with the Indian Bank to fund early-stage start-ups.
- A start-up funding scheme called ‘IndSpring Board’ has been launched as part of the MoU. Loans of up to Rs 50 crore would be disbursed to start-ups under this initiative.

9. Prajakta Koli was named the first UNDP Youth Climate Champion in India.
- Prajakta Koli, a content producer, YouTuber, and actress known for her YouTube channel “Mostlysane,” has been named India’s first UNDP Youth Climate Champion.
- She was given the title in recognition of her contributions to mental health, girls’ education, and women’s rights through different global social causes.
10. Vinod Rai has been selected as the independent chairman of Unity Small Finance Bank by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Rai is a former comptroller and auditor general (CAG) of India (Unity SFB).
- Under Section 22 (1) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, Unity Small Finance Bank began operations as a small finance bank on November 1, 2021.
11. Jahnavi Dangeti is the first Indian woman to graduate from NASA’s International Air and Space Program.
- Jahnavi Dangeti, a young Andhra Pradesh girl, has completed NASA’s International Air and Space Program (IASP) at the Kennedy Space Center in Alabama, becoming the first Indian to do so.
- She is one of a select group of 20 students chosen from around the world. She’s worked as a campus ambassador for a variety of firms, including Star (Space Technology and Aeronautical Rocketry), an Indian commercial aerospace firm.

12. “Anxiety” has been named the Children’s Word of the Year for 2021 by Oxford University Press.
- Based on their recent research, Oxford University Press has named ‘Anxiety’ as the Children’s Word of the Year 2021.
- Anxiety was chosen based on a poll of about 8,000 children aged 7 to 14 years old from 85 UK schools, who were asked to name the terms they most frequently used when discussing health and wellness.

13. Jio and the University of Oulu in Finland have agreed to collaborate on 6G research.
- Jio Platforms (JPL) and the University of Oulu in Finland have agreed to collaborate on 6G research and standards.
- In the areas of aerial and space communication, holographic beamforming, 3D-connected intelligence in cybersecurity, microelectronics, and photonics, JPL and the University of Oulu will collaborate in R&D.
