1. The magnificent hologram statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has been placed at India Gate.
- At India Gate in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a towering statue of famous liberation warrior Netaji Subhas Chand Bose. The hologram statue has a height of 28 feet and a width of 6 feet.
- Once the hologram statue is finished, it will be replaced with a grand granite statue. The statue will be unveiled on Netaji’s 125th birthday as a tribute to his enormous contribution to the country’s independence movement and as a symbol of the country’s obligation to him.
2. Kerala has received its first scientific bird atlas.
- The Kerala Bird Atlas (KBA), India’s first state-level bird atlas, has established a strong baseline of data on the distribution and abundance of bird species across all major habitats, paving the way for future research.
- It is being carried out as a citizen science project with the help of over 1,000 volunteers from the birding community. The KBA was created using systematic surveys completed twice a year for 60 days.

3. Armen Sarkissian, Armenia’s president, has resigned.
- Armen Sarkissian, the President of Armenia, has resigned from his post due to his office’s inability to influence policy during times of national crisis. In 2018, he was elected President.
- The war between Armenia and its adversary Azerbaijan for control of the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh territory triggered Armenia’s political crisis.

4. The Centre has announced a 40-100 percent subsidy to promote drones in agriculture. The Union Agriculture Ministry has updated the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) rules to provide a 40-100 percent subsidy in the purchase of drones for farm mechanisation until March 2023.
- Following the modification, a grant of up to 100% of the cost of agriculture drones or ten lakhs, whichever is less, can be awarded for the purchase of drones.
5. MNRE has declared that it will invest 1,000 crores in SECI to fund renewable energy capacity.
- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced a one-billion-dollar investment in the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
- It was done in order to increase SECI’s capital asset base. According to current RBI guidelines, an agency can lend up to 20% of its net assets.
6. West Bengal has received a USD 125 million loan from the World Bank for social protection programmes.
- The World Bank has authorised a loan of USD 125 million (about Rs 1,000 crore) to West Bengal’s government to help it expand access to social protection services for the poor and vulnerable.
- The loan will be granted as part of the World Bank’s “Building State Capability for Inclusive Social Protection” initiative, which aims to improve poor and vulnerable people’s access to social assistance and targeted services.

8. NATO will conduct 12-day maritime exercises. The Mediterranean Sea’s ‘Neptune Strike ’22’
- NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) countries have begun a 12-day maritime exercise in the Mediterranean Sea called ‘Neptune Strike ’22.’ The naval exercise will end on February 4, 2022.
- NATO is a military alliance that consists of 27 European countries, two North American countries, and one Eurasian country.

- The PMRBP award is granted by the Indian government to children who have demonstrated remarkable qualities and achievements in six categories: Innovation (7), Social Service (4), Scholastic (1), Sports (8), Art & Culture (6), and Bravery (3).
10. At the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival, Koozhangal was named best film.
- The film was directed by P S Vinothraj. At the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) 2022 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, India’s Koozhangal (Tamil) received the best film prize in the Asian Film Competition category.
- Apart from that, four other Indian films were nominated for one of the 17 categories.
11. The dates for the 2021 International Cricket Council Awards have been announced.
- The winners of the 17th edition of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards for the year 2021 have been announced. The ICC Awards recognise and honour the best international cricket players from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021.
- These awards, in particular, recognise players for their contributions to their respective national teams over the course of a year.

12. Thiru R. Nagaswamy, a well-known historian, archaeologist, and epigraphist, died recently.
- Ramachandran Nagaswamy (91 years), a Padma Bhushan awardee and eminent Indian historian, archaeologist, and epigraphist from Tamil Nadu, passed dead.
- He was the first director of the Department of Archaeology of the Tamil Nadu government. He was well-known for his work on Tamil Nadu temple inscriptions and art history.
