1. The Netherlands has unveiled the ‘biggest’ canal lock in the world.
- At Ijmuiden, The Netherlands, Dutch King Willen-Alexander inaugurated the world’s largest canal lock.
- A total of $338 million has been spent on the project’s construction.
- The sea lock at Ijmuiden is 500 metres (1,640 ft) long and 70 metres broad. The major infrastructure project began in 2016 and was supposed to be completed by 2019.

2. TerraPay and NPCI International have teamed up to facilitate international payments in real time.
- The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) announced that its international payments arm, NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), has signed a memorandum of understanding with TerraPay, a Netherlands-based global payments infrastructure company, to enable Indians with an active UPI ID to receive real-time international payments into their bank accounts using TerraPay’s secure payments technology.
- India is the world’s largest beneficiary of cross-border remittances, receiving roughly US$ 80 billion per year.
3. Paytm Money has launched the ‘Pops’ messenger, which is powered by artificial intelligence and allows users to invest and track markets.
- Paytm Money, a wholly-owned subsidiary of One97 Communications Limited, which owns the Paytm brand, India’s top digital payments and financial services platform, has launched India’s first intelligent messenger, transforming the way users invest and track markets.
- The company has created ‘Pops,’ which allows consumers to get particular information about their stocks, portfolio analysis, market news, and major market movements in an easy-to-digest style, all in one spot.
4. Faarms associates Farmers will be insured by Reliance General.
- Agricultural technology start-up Faarms has provided personalised digital insurance solutions for the rural community, particularly farmers, in collaboration with Reliance General Insurance Company Ltd. (RGICL).
- According to Faarms, not only farmers but everyone living in rural regions can use the Faarms app to access and choose from a variety of health and cattle insurance at the touch of a button on their smartphones.

5. Malaysia’s AirAsia has changed its name to Capital A to emphasise that it is more than just an airline.
- As it strives to expand its non-airline revenue, Malaysia’s AirAsia Group has changed the name of its publicly traded holding company to Capital A to reflect the diversity of its business portfolio.
- The AirAsia brand is still used by the airline. However, the company will concentrate on increasing its other operations, such as logistics, aviation engineering, venture capital, education, and mobile payment, travel, and lifestyle applications.
6. Google is planning a $1 billion investment in an Indian cellular operator. Google (GOOGL.O) will invest up to $1 billion in India’s Bharti Airtel (BRTI.NS) as the US technology giant increases its presence in the country, pushing the telecom operator’s stock up as much as 6.6 percent.
- The investment is part of Google’s intention to invest $10 billion in India via its digitisation fund over the next five to seven years through stock deals and tie-ups, which was disclosed less than two years ago.

7. HPCL’s new chairman and managing director will be Pushp Kumar Joshi.
- Pushp Kumar Joshi has been appointed as the new chairman and managing director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), the country’s third largest oil refining and fuel marketing firm, by government headhunter PESB.
- Joshi, 58, has been a member of HPCL’s board of directors for nearly a decade.
8. IIFL Finance Limited has selected Arun Kumar Purwar as its chairman, starting April 1. IIFL Finance is a non-banking finance company funded by Fairfax and Capital Group. Purwar was previously the head of the State Bank of India.
- Purwar is a seasoned banker who served as Chairman of the State Bank of India from November 2002 to May 2006. He was credited with spearheading the core banking programme and increasing the bank’s retail focus. He was instrumental in the establishment of SBI’s life insurance company, SBI Life Insurance Company.
9. Anantha Nageswaran is named Chief Economic Advisor by the government.
- Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran has been named the Indian government’s Chief Economic Advisor.
- Dr. Nageswaran has worked as a writer, author, teacher, and consultant in the past. He has taught at a number of business colleges and management institutes in India and Singapore.

10. TX2 is given to Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve.
- The renowned TX2 award was presented to the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) in Erode district after its tiger population increased to 80 since 2010. Apart from the STR, the TX2 prize went to Nepal’s Bardia National Park for increasing the population of wild tigers.
- The award recognises the efforts of state governments and local residents, who have played a critical role in transforming a relatively new tiger reserve into one of India’s primary populations of tigers.
11. J&K Police receives the largest number of police medals for gallantry on Republic Day, with 115.
- On this year’s Republic Day, the Jammu and Kashmir Police received the most number of gallantry awards among all States, Union Territories, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) across the country.
- Fighting a 32-year armed insurgency, the J&K Police have received 115 Police Medals for Gallantry (PMGs) from the Indian government, which was announced a day before Republic Day. With 30 PMGs, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has the second highest position.

- The visual comic book ‘India’s Women Unsung Heroes’ was published in New Delhi by Minister of State for Culture Meenakashi Lekhi.
- Culture Ministry collaborated with Amar Chitra Katha to produce the book.
15. Subhash Garg’s book “The $10 Trillion Dream”
- Subhash Chandra Garg, India’s former finance secretary, has released his first book, “The $10 Trillion Dream.”
- The book is set to be released at the end of February 2022. Penguin Random House India is the publisher (PRHI).

16. Anil Awachat, a Marathi author and activist, has died.
- Anil Awachat, also known as Baba, was a Marathi author and social crusader who died on Thursday. He was 78 years old at the time.
- Awachat founded and directed the Muktangan Rehabilitation Centre in Pune, as well as being involved in a number of philanthropic initiatives.
