1. In Ladakh, the world’s highest altitude movie theatre opens.
- The world’s tallest cinema, a newly launched mobile digital movie theatre in Ladakh, has created history. The inflatable theatre is located in the Paldan neighbourhood of Leh, Ladakh, at an elevation of 11,562 feet.
- The inflatable theatre can function in temperatures as low as -28 degrees Celsius. The effort intends to provide the cinematic experience to India’s most rural places. It should be emphasised that four such theatres will be built in Leh in the near future.
2. PM Modi dedicates the Jallianwala Bagh Smarak complex in Amritsar to the nation.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the rebuilt Jallianwala Bagh Smarak complex in Punjab’s Amritsar to the nation via video conference on August 28, 2021, to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh atrocity.
- The historic garden is a national memorial, dedicated to the remembrance of the numerous revolutionaries, sacrificers, and fighters who were slaughtered in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre on Baisakhi Day, April 13, 1919.
3. For new automobiles, the government has introduced a new registration mark under the BH-series.
- According to the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, the government has adopted a new registration mark for new automobiles under the “Bharat series (BH-series)” to allow seamless vehicle transfers.
- The road transport ministry has announced the series, which has been notified by the central government. Defense personnel, employees of central government/state government/central/state public sector undertakings, and private sector companies/organizations with operations in four or more states/union territories will be eligible for the new series on a voluntary basis, according to the government.
4. FM In Tripura, Nirmala Sitharaman launches the ‘My Pad, My Right’ project.
- On the second and final day of her visit to Tripura, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated a project dubbed “My Pad, My Right” initiated by NABARD and NABFOUNDATION at Killa village in Gomati district.
- Through grants, wage support, and capital equipment, the project strives to bring livelihood and menstrual hygiene closer to rural women.
5. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance, has promised a Rs 1300 crore development package for Tripura’s tribal areas.
- Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, announced that a Rs 1300-crore project for sustainable development and infrastructure development in Tripura’s tribal districts would be approved in the next 10 days.
- Sitharaman told a meeting after launching a series of 11 projects in Mohanpur, about 50 kilometres from here, that the Rs 1300-crore World Bank-funded initiative will enable all-round development in the state’s tribal districts.
6. Central govt’s flagship financial inclusion programme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana completes seven years
- Central government’s flagship financial inclusion programme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana completes seven years on August 28,2021.
- The scheme was launched on this day in 2014 with an aim to provide universal access to banking facilities to the people across the country.
7. In the Supreme Court, the Centre has formed a committee to streamline revenue litigation.
- After the justices requested a reduction in long delays in filing tax appeals, the Centre constituted a committee to expedite revenue litigation pending before the Supreme Court, according to solicitor general Tushar Mehta.
- The committee, which includes representatives from the National Informatics Centre, the law ministry, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the Central Board of Indirect Taxes (CBIT), and the Department of Revenue, will work on an electronic case management system that will allow revenue litigation from tribunals and high courts to be tracked and appeals filed in the top court to be filed in a timely manner.

8. India’s and Germany’s navies Organize a joint exercise in the Gulf of Aden
- In the Gulf of Aden, near Yemen, Indian and German navies conducted a coordinated drill that included helicopter landings and search and seizure operations.
- According to an official release, the Indian Navy’s frigate “Trikand” practised with the German frigate “Bayern” in the Gulf of Aden.

9. Remittances to Nepal: The Reserve Bank of India has increased the per transaction limit to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 50,000.
- The Reserve Bank of India has improved the Indo-Nepal Remittance Facility Scheme, doubling the transaction ceiling to 2 lakh and removing the 12-remittance limit per remitter per year.
- The aforementioned upgrades, which take effect on October 1, are intended to boost trade payments between the two nations as well as to make electronic remittances to Nepal more convenient.
10. The RBI has increased the incentive for coin distribution to 65 cents each bag, up from 25 cents previously.
- With effect from September 1, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) increased the incentive for banks to distribute coins to the general population to Rs 65 per bag.
- The reward is currently Rs 25 per bag.
- The RBI stated in a circular that on production of an auditor certificate, an additional incentive of Rs 10 per bag will be granted for coin distribution in rural and semi-urban regions.
11. Ananda is a smartphone app developed by LIC for brokers and intermediaries.
- For LIC agents, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has introduced the mobile app for their digital paperless solution, “ANANDA.” Atma Nirbhar Agents New Business Digital Application is known as ANANDA.
- The ANANDA Digital application for LIC Agents / Intermediaries was launched in November 2020.
- With the Mobile App in place, Agents / Intermediaries will be more likely to use ANANDA, which will help LIC grow its New Business fortunes.

12. During the months of April to June 2021, India received a total of 22.53 billion in FDI.
- India received overall FDI inflows of 22.53 billion dollars from April to June this year, up 90% from the first three months of 2020-21, when it received 11.84 billion dollars.
- In the first three months of the Financial Year 2021-22, FDI equity inflows increased by 168 percent to 17.57 billion dollars, compared to 6.56 billion dollars a year before.
13. India is the world’s sixth-largest DeFi adopter: Chainalysis
- According to the 2021 Global DeFi Adoption Index published by blockchain data platform Chainalysis, DeFi, or decentralised finance, is one of the fastest growing and most inventive sectors of the cryptocurrency economy, with India ranking sixth in terms of DeFi adoption.
- The United States had the highest rate of DeFi adoption, followed by Vietnam, Thailand, China, and the United Kingdom.

- Buddhadeb Guha, a well-known Bengali writer who wrote works such as Madhukari (Honey Gatherer), has died. He was 85 years old at the time.
