1. Until June this year, the government had allocated approximately Rs 756 crore under the FAME scheme.
- Until June of this year, the government has allocated approximately 756 crore rupees under the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) scheme.
- The scheme’s principal goal is to encourage faster adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles by providing an upfront incentive on electric vehicle purchases and developing the appropriate charging infrastructure.
2. Bhubaneswar has become the country’s first city to obtain 100% vaccination against covid-19.
- Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, has been the first city in India to attain 100% vaccination against covid-19.
- In addition, the first dosage of covid vaccination was given to around one lakh migrant labourers in the capital city.
3. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a digital payment solution. e-RUPI
- In collaboration with the Department of Financial Services (DFS), the National Health Authority (NHA), the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and partner banks, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced an innovative digital solution called e-RUPI.
- e-RUPI is a one-time payment solution for payment vouchers. It’s based on the UPI protocol.
International News
4. In the Sikkim sector, the Indian and Chinese armies have established a hotline.
- The Indian Army established a hotline with the People’s Liberation Army of China at Khamba Dzong in the Tibetan Autonomous Region at Kongra La in North Sikkim.
- This will help to foster a sense of trust and goodwill along the border. The event took place on PLA Day.

5. The Reserve Bank of India has appointed IndusInd Bank as an Agency Bank.
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has empanelled IndusInd Bank to act as a “Agency Bank” to expedite transactions relating to government companies, according to the bank.
- According to IndusInd Bank, this will increase the bank’s foothold in the government sector.
6. In the YONO and YONO Lite apps, SBI has included a new and improved security feature called ‘SIM Binding.’
- To protect its clients’ interests, the country’s largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI), has introduced a new and improved security feature called “SIM Binding” in the YONO and YONO Lite apps.
- Customers will be protected against a variety of digital frauds with the updated edition of these platforms. With the SIM Binding function, YONO and YONO Lite will only work on devices that have a SIM Card for a mobile number that has been registered with the bank.
7. Indian Bank forms an agreement with IIT Bombay to provide exclusive credit to start-ups and SMEs.
- Indian Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), a project of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, to provide Start-ups and MSMEs with unique loans.
- The Bank would provide these start-ups with loans of up to 50 crore rupees for working capital or the purchase of machinery and equipment.

8. India’s services exports reached USD 19.72 billion in June, according to RBI data. India’s services exports jumped 24.1% month over month to USD 19.72 billion in June 2021, according to RBI data.
- Exports in May totaled USD 17.35 billion, compared to USD 17.54 billion in April.
- The RBI also stated that imports in June were USD 11.14 billion, up 24.8 percent from the previous month.
Appointments News
9. Myanmar’s army head names himself Prime Minister and promises a 2023 election.
- The State Administration Council of Myanmar has been renamed the “Caretaker Government of Myanmar,” with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Myanmar military’s Chief of Staff, as Prime Minister.
- General Hlaing also promised to hold elections by 2023 in a televised speech. He stated that his administration was willing to engage with an ASEAN-appointed regional ambassador on Myanmar in the future.
10. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been re-appointed.
- President Armen Sarkissian has re-appointed Nikol Pashinyan as Armenia’s prime minister.
- In the June 2021 parliamentary elections, Pashinyan, the leader of the Civil Contract Party, gained the majority of seats. Pashinyan, 46, was appointed Prime Minister for the first time in 2018.

11. The Government of India has named Chitkara University as the District Green Champion.
- The Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Education, Government of India, has named Chitkara University, Patiala, as the ‘District Green Champion’ for the academic year 2020-21.
- In the presence of Patiala deputy commissioner Kumar Amit, the award was awarded to the varsity’s pro-chancellor, Madhu Chitkara.

13. Rashid Irani, a film reviewer, has died.
