National
1. India and the United States have signed an agreement to collaborate on the development of air-launched unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
- In what is seen as a significant step to further enhance their bilateral defence and military collaboration, India and the United States have inked an agreement for cooperation in the development of Air-Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (ALUAV).
- The deal is part of the two countries’ Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation (RDT&E) agreement, which was signed in 2006 and renewed in January 2015.
2. The Chief Minister of Manipur has launched the e-ILP platform to regulate entry and exit.
- N Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, virtually launched the e-ILP platform for effective regulation of the state’s Inner Line Permit (ILP) system.
- The e-ILP tracking system was created to address flaws in the procedures used to grant the permit and track its progress.
3. The official bird of Ladakh is the black-necked crane, and the state animal is the snow leopard.
- Two years after being carved out as a separate Union Territory (UT) from the erstwhile State of J&K, the Union Territory Government of Ladakh has declared the snow leopard as its state animal and the black-necked crane as its state bird.
- Only the Changthang region of Ladakh is home to black-necked cranes, which are regarded faithful pairs.
4. LG Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir launches the ‘Saath’ project for women associated with SHGs in the state. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has started the ‘Saath’ Rural Enterprises Acceleration Program for women in Self Help Groups (SHGs).
- This Saath programme will focus on mentoring and market connections for these women’s products. In the coming year, we want to create 11000 more SHGs.
5. The Nutri Garden at the All India Institute of Ayurveda is inaugurated by the WCD Minister.
- Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister for Women and Child Development (WCD), opened NUTRI GARDEN at the All India Institute of Ayurveda to mark the start of Poshan Maah – 2021. (AIIA).
- The celebration of Poshan Maah – 2021 was started by the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, under the auspices of the Ministry of Ayush.
6. The government of Arunachal Pradesh has launched two agricultural and horticultural development initiatives.
- The government of Arunachal Pradesh has introduced two ambitious initiatives, the ‘AtmaNirbhar Krishi Yojna’ for agriculture and the ‘AtmaNirbhar Bagwani Yojna’ for horticulture. The programmes are part of the AtmaNirbhar programme, which was introduced during the February Budget session.
- The two relevant departments of Agriculture and Horticulture have been given a total of 120 crore rupees – 60 crore rupees for each scheme.
7. The government has launched the AYUSH AAPKE DWAR campaign in over 45 venues across the country.
- From more than 45 places throughout the country, the Ayush Ministry has launched the campaign AYUSH AAPKE DWAR.
- The effort intends to reach 75 lakh households in a year using medicinal plant saplings. Tejpatta, Stevia, Ashoka, Giloy, Ashwagandha, Lemongrass, Tulsi, Sarpagandha, and Amla are among the medicinal herbs.

8. The value of India’s special drawing rights has increased to $19.41 billion.
- According to the Reserve Bank, India’s holdings of IMF Special Drawing Rights (SDR) have increased to SDR 13.66 billion, or USD 19.41 billion at current exchange rates.
- According to the RBI, the IMF allocated SDR 12.57 billion (about USD 17.86 billion at the current currency rate) to India on August 23.
9. PhonePe has launched ‘Pulse,’ an interactive geolocation portal.
- PhonePe has launched Pulse, the country’s first geolocation website, which will provide detailed information on digital payment trends.
- The platform will provide information on the digital transaction habits of over 30 million Indians down to the district level. The Pulse Report, an in-depth look at the progress of digital payments over the previous five years, was also released.
10. In collaboration with Visa, Federal Bank has launched a credit card.
- Federal Bank partnered with Visa to establish a credit card in order to boost its unsecured, high-yielding book and round out its banking services.

11. Exim Bank extends USD 40 million line of credit to Maldives The Export-Import Bank of India [Exim Bank] has extended a USD 40 million Line of Credit [LOC] to the Government of the Republic of Maldives for the purpose of financing the development of sports infrastructure on behalf of the Government of India.
- Exim Bank has now extended five LOCs to the Maldives on behalf of the Indian government, bringing the total amount of LOCs to USD 1.33 billion.
12. The government has introduced new guidelines for calculating taxable interest on PF contributions that exceed certain thresholds.
- Interest on contributions to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) or General Provident Fund (GPF) above 2.5 lakh would not be taxed retrospectively, according to the Finance Ministry.
- According to the Ministry’s rules, taxable interest on contributions to EPF or GPF is calculated with prospective impact, and the contribution threshold for non-taxable interest in the case of government employees might rise to $5 lakh.

13. India has surpassed China as the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem.
- After the United States and China, India has emerged as the world’s third largest startup ecosystem, with development showing no signs of stopping.
- India has added three unicorns every month for the past year, bringing the total number to 51, ahead of the United Kingdom (32) and Germany (18). A unicorn is a privately held startup company with a valuation of more than $1 billion.

14. Atul Bhatt is named CMD of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam by the government.
- According to an official statement, Atul Bhatt has been named chairman and managing director (CMD) of the disinvestment-owned steel business Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL).
- Bhatt was the CEO of MECON, a state-owned consultancy organisation that provides a full spectrum of services from idea through commissioning, including turnkey execution.
15. Ashish Singhal has been appointed as the new MD and CEO of SVC Bank.
- Ashish Singhal has been named the new Managing Director and CEO of SVC Bank. His appointment began on September 1 and will last through the end of the year.
- He takes over for Ajit E Venugopalan, who announced his retirement on August 31.

16. Harvinder Singh wins bronze in the Men’s Individual Recurve, giving India its 13th Paralympic medal.
- Harvinder Singh, an ace archer from India, won bronze in the men’s individual recurve open on September 3, 2021 at the Paralympics 2020.
- The 31-year-old has become India’s first Paralympic archer to earn a medal.
17. Avani Lekhara wins bronze in the 50m Rifle at the Tokyo Paralympics, giving her a total of two medals.
- After recently capturing an unprecedented gold, Indian para-shooter Avani Lekhara has now won a Bronze Medal for the country in the 50m Rifle 3 Position SH1 event at the Paralympics Games in Tokyo on September 3, 2021.
- With this victory, Lekhara, who is 19 years old, has become the first Indian woman to win two medals in the same Paralympics edition.

18. Larsen & Toubro and Powergrid take home the prestigious ATD Best Award from around the world.
- The Association for Talent Development (ATD) has presented the 2021 BEST Awards to 71 organisations from around the world. These are the only two Indian companies in the Top 20 of the BEST Award for 2021.
- The “Association for Talent Development (ATD) 2021 BEST Award” was given to Larsen & Toubro Technology Services, which placed first out of 71 organisations worldwide.
19. Alejandro Prieto of Mexico has been named Bird Photographer of the Year for 2021.
- Alejandro Prieto, a Mexican photographer, has been named the winner of the Bird Photographer of the Year (BPOTY) 2021 competition.
- He won for taking an image of a larger roadrunner peering up at the barbed-wire-encrusted border wall between the United States and Mexico, almost bemused. ‘Blocked’ is the title given to the image.
Obituary News
20. Former IOC President Jacques Rogge has died.
- Jacques Rogge, a Belgian Olympic sailor and orthopaedic surgeon who served as president of the International Olympic Committee for 12 years, has passed away. He was 79 years old at the time.
- Rogge was a world champion in sailing and a rugby player for Belgium. From 1968 to 1976, he competed in three Olympic Games in the Finn class.
