1. Maharashtra plans to build a science city near Pune named after Rajiv Gandhi.
- In Pune, the Maharashtra Cabinet has agreed to establish a Science City. In the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in Pune, the facility will be called as ‘Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi Science City.’
- After the state government has announced the IT Awards in the name of Rajiv Gandhi and previously, Assam Cabinet agreed to rename Rajiv Gandhi National Park as Orang National Park, now the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey has decided to establish up Science City after Rajiv Gandhi’s name.
2. In 2021, India will host the International Climate Summit.
- The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s environment committee has proposed that India hold a significant meeting as part of the International Climate Summit (ICS) 2021.
- According to the event’s organisers, the global hybrid summit will create a dialogue for India’s transition to sustainable energy.
3. The NMCG and SAIARD have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for ‘Capacity Building on Integrated River Basin Management with a Focus on Geospatial Technology in Riverine Ecosystems.’
- According to a statement, the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and the South Asian Institute for Advanced Research and Development (SAIARD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to generate and expand capacity building on integrated river basin management.
- SIAIRD will now be designated the regional capacity building centre for NMCG, thanks to the signature of this MoU.
4. India is the first Asian country to sign the Plastics Pact.
- India has become the first Asian country to create the Plastics Pact, a new forum to promote a circular plastics system.
- On September 3, 2021, the British High Commissioner to India, Alexander Ellis, introduced the India Plastic Pact platform during the Confederation of Indian Industry’s 16th Sustainability Summit (CII).
5. Arunachal Pradesh has launched two programmes to help farmers and horticulturists.
- The state government of Arunachal Pradesh has established two large-scale agriculture and horticultural initiatives.
- The ‘AtmaNirbhar Krishi Yojna’ is a scheme for the agriculture industry. The initiative has been allotted Rs 60 crore by the state government.

6. The account aggregator network now includes eight major institutions.
- Customers will be able to quickly access and share their financial data thanks to the addition of eight major banks to the account aggregator network.
- State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, IDFC First Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank, and Federal Bank are among these lenders.
7. HDFC Bank is the first lender to list $1 billion in AT-1 bonds on the IFSC.
- The International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) of Gujarat became the first Indian lender to list its $1 billion foreign currency additional tier-I (AI-1) bonds, which are priced at 3.7 percent.
- Since its launch in 2018, India INX’s major market platform, Global Securities Market, has attracted a lot of attention, with over $55 billion in medium-term notes and over $28 billion in bond listings.
8. The Financial Stability and Development Council’s 24th meeting is chaired by Nirmala Sitharaman.
- Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, presided over the 24th meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC).
- The Financial Stability and Growth Council (FSDC) is India’s premier forum for strengthening and institutionalising the process for maintaining financial stability, improving inter-regulatory cooperation, and fostering financial sector development.

9. Taiwan and India are Nasscom CoE-IoT partners. Nasscom Centre of Excellence for Internet of Things (CoE-IoT) and Taiwan-India Artificial Intelligence Technology Innovation Research Centre, Taiwan’s leading university and startup incubator under the National Chung Cheng University, have signed a letter of intent to collaborate.
- The relationship between Nasscom CoE IoT and Taiwan-India Artificial Intelligence Technology Innovation Research Center, aimed at incubation support, mentorship, and market access, would assist Indian tech entrepreneurs in sourcing hardware components from Taiwan during prototype and manufacturing phases.

10. Vartika Shukla is the first woman to win the race. Engineers India Ltd (EIL) announced that Vartika Shukla has been appointed as the company’s first woman Chairperson and Managing Director, effective September 1, 2021.
- Shukla, a Chemical Engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, joined EIL in 1988 and has considerable consulting expertise in refining, gas processing, petrochemicals, and fertilisers.
11. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has nominated Dr PPK Ramacharyulu, who has been working as Secretary in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat since 2018, to the highest office until further instructions.
- He succeeds Desh Deepak Verma, who resigned as SG after four years in office.

12. At the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships, India won 39 medals, including 14 gold.
- Indian boxers dominated the recent ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships, winning a total of 39 medals, a new high for the country. Indian boxers will compete in the 2021 ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai, where they will win 39 medals, including 14 gold.
- India won 20 medals in the young category and 19 medals in the junior category at the previous competition. India won 14 gold medals at the competition, out of a total of 39.
13. At the Tokyo Paralympics, Manish Narwal won gold and Singhraj Adhana takes silver in the 50m Mixed Pistol (SH1) event.
- On September 4, 2021, Indian para-shooter Manish Narwal won gold in the P4 – Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 final at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
- Manish, who is 19 years old, won gold with a score of 218.2.
14. At the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, shuttler Pramod Bhagat wins India’s fourth GOLD medal, while Manoj Sarkar takes bronze.
- On September 4, 2021, Indian shuttler Pramod Bhagat made history by winning a gold medal in the men’s singles badminton SL3 final match at the current Tokyo Paralympics. He won 2-0 over Daniel Bethell of the United Kingdom.
- This year is the first time badminton has been included in the Paralympics.
