1. Tamil Nadu will be home to India’s first dugong conservation reserve.
- On the state’s southeast coast, the Tamil Nadu government announced plans to establish India’s first Dugong Conservation Reserve in Palk Bay.
- According to Minister of Forests K Ramachandran, a Dugong Marine Conservation Reserve will be constructed with community participation in the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay area to safeguard the species.
2. With effect from July 1, the Gujarat government has announced an 11 percent increase in DA for employees and retirees.
- With effect from July 1, the Gujarat government has announced an 11% increase in dearness allowance for its employees and retirees. The new DA rate is set to be 28%.
- In July, the central government increased the DA for its employees from 17% to 28%.
3. The Chief Minister of Manipur has launched the COVID-19 Affected Livelihood Support Scheme.
- COVID-19 Affected Livelihood Support Scheme was introduced by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh to help those who had been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
- The Chief Minister indicated that the scheme’s applications were solicited through a thorough survey conducted at the district level, and that a total of 22,336 applications had been received thus far.
4. At IIT Hyderabad, India’s first bio-brick building was unveiled.
- At IIT Hyderabad, India’s first building consisting of bio-bricks manufactured from agro-waste was unveiled.
- Bio-bricks are used to construct the sample structure, which is supported by a metal framework. To minimise heat, the roof is also composed of bio-bricks over PVC sheets.

6. Punjab inks a memorandum of understanding with Amcham India to boost investment and ease of doing business.
- The Punjab government and the American Chamber of Commerce in India (Amcham India) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to encourage investment and make it easier for US member companies to do business in the state. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at Amcham India’s 29th annual general meeting.
- The first-of-its-kind MoU inked by Amcham India with any state will see the formation of a joint working group (JWG) including representatives from Invest Punjab and the American trade association.

7. Cyrus Poncha has been chosen Vice President of the Asian Squash Federation.
- At the 41st ASF AGM, held virtually, Cyrus Poncha, secretary of the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI), was elected vice-president of the Asian Squash Federation (ASF) for a four-year term.
- Fayez Abdullah S. Al Mutairi (Kuwait) and Tae-sook Heo (South Korea) are the other newly elected vice presidents (Korea).
8. Prashant Kumar, President of the Bar Association of India, was elected to the ILAC Board of Directors.
- Advocate Prashant Kumar has been elected to the board of directors of the International Legal Assistance Consortium.
- Kumar, who is also the president of the Bar Association of India, is the ILAC board’s second Asian member. He is the second Asian on the ILAC Board of Directors.
9. Hockey player Rani Rampal and cricketer Smriti Mandhana have been named brand ambassadors for Equitas Small Finance Bank.
- Equitas Small Finance Bank (ESFB) has appointed Rani Rampal, an Indian women’s hockey player, and Smriti Mandhana, a cricketer, as brand ambassadors.
- The news was made on September 5, 2021, during the ESFB’s fifth anniversary.

10. Bumrah surpasses Kapil Dev’s record of 100 Test wickets, becoming the fastest Indian bowler to do it.
- In the longest version of the game, Jasprit Bumrah became the fastest Indian pacer to reach 100 wickets. In the ongoing fourth Test against England, Bumrah achieved the accomplishment when he dismissed Ollie Pope for 2 in the second session of the final day.
- With Pope’s wicket, Bumrah equaled the mark set by former Indian captain Kapil Dev. It took Kapil Dev 25 Tests to reach 100 wickets, whilst Bumrah did so in his 24th game.

- Shailendra Singh, an Indian biologist, has been honoured with the Behler Turtle Conservation Award for saving three severely endangered turtle species from extinction.

- The actor was well known for his roles as ‘Omar Little’ in The Wire and Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire. He was a regular on a number of well-regarded television shows, most recently in HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” and the series “F Is for Family.”
