1. PM CARES for Children has been extended by the Centre until February 28, 2022.
- The Government of India’s Ministry of Women and Child Development has extended the PM Cares for Children Scheme until February 28, 2022.
- The programme was previously valid through December 31, 2021. All Principal Secretaries/ Secretaries, Women and Child Development, Social Justice & Empowerment Departments of all States and UTs, with a copy to all District Magistrates/District Collectors, have received a letter in this regard.
2. The Assam government created “Project Arohan” to help students improve their skills.
- Assam’s government plans to begin “Project Arohan,” a four-year mentorship programme aimed at mentoring and honing the talents of Assam’s pupils.
- Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, met with Anita Rajan, Chief Executive Officer of Tata STRIVE, Tata Trusts’ skill development project, to discuss Project Arohan.
3. India’s Security Printing and Minting Corporation A banned area has been imposed at the Delhi headquarters.
- Under Section 2 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, the Home Ministry has designated the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd. (SPMCIL) headquarters in Delhi as a “prohibited site.”
- Unauthorized people will not be able to enter it because of this. It is India’s only currency and bank note producer, and in 2016, it released a new series of 2,000 and 500 rupee notes.
4. The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has authorised a Rs 1,000 crore river cleanup project in Pune.
- The tender for cleaning up the rivers Mula, Mutha, and Mula-Mutha (confluence of both rivers) in the Pune Municipal Corporation region was accepted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
- The river pollution abatement project will cost roughly Rs 1,000 crores. The most polluted cities are Mula and Mutha, which meet the Krishna River in the Western Ghats and eventually empty into the Bay of Bengal.
5. Ricky Kej and Bickram Ghosh composed the signature track for ‘Vande Bharatam,’ which was released by Minister of State for Culture.
- Meenakashi Lekhi, Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs, has unveiled the trademark melody for ‘Vande Bharatam.’
- Ricky Kej, a Grammy Award winner, and Bickram Ghosh, an Oscar nominee, created the song. It was created for the Ministry of Culture’s Vande Bharatam Nritya Utsav, which was held on Rajpath in New Delhi for the Republic Day celebration 2022.
6. The Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAYG) Dashboard was launched by Giriraj Singh.
- Giriraj Singh, the Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, has inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAYG) Dashboard to ensure that the scheme’s implementation is closely monitored.

7. In the United Arab Emirates, India will establish its first IIT outside of the nation.
- As part of the India-UAE trade agreement, the Indian Institute of Technology will open its first branch outside of India in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
- The UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) will usher in a new era of mutual strategic cooperation across all sectors. In addition, an India-UAE cultural council will be established to assist and promote cultural projects, cross-cultural exchanges, and exhibitions between the two countries.
8. For the commercialization of Hydrogen Fuel Cells in India, Adani Group has partnered with Ballard Power Systems.
- Adani Group, an Indian multinational conglomerate, has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ballard Power Systems, a global leader in fuel cell technology and a Nasdaq-listed company in Canada, to assess a joint investment case for the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cells in mobility and industrial applications in India.
- In India, Adani Group has teamed up with Ballard to build a shared fuel cell ecosystem. Under the terms of the agreement, Adani Group and Ballard will look into possible collaborations, such as fuel cell manufacturing in India.

9. The Asia’s largest Bio-CNG facility, ‘Gobar-Dhan,’ was financed with the help of HDFC Bank and ICEPL.
- HDFC Bank has teamed with Indore Clean Energy Private Limited (ICEPL) to support the conversion of 550 tonnes of municipal solid waste (MSW) per day into compressed biogas at the Gobar-Dhan facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, which is Asia’s largest Bio-CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) plant.
- This is HDFC Bank’s largest waste-to-energy project, sponsored as part of the bank’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) objectives to reduce climate change’s negative consequences and become carbon neutral by 2031-2032.
10. BNP Paribas Cardif will be reclassified as a non-promoter by SBI Life Insurance.
- SBI Life Insurance Company (SBI Life) said that its promoter, BNP Paribas Cardif, has requested to be classed as a public shareholder, with a 2% share capital.
- BNP Paribas Cardiff, one of the firm’s promoters with 0.20 percent of the company’s paid-up share capital, has requested that its shareholding in the company be reclassified from the promoter and promoter group category to the public category.
11. LIC boosted its holding in Capri Global Capital Ltd (CGCL) from 4.959 percent to 5.044 percent through market acquisition.
- The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) both list CGCL as a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) (NSE).
12. In FY23, India’s fuel demand is predicted to increase by 5.5 percent.
- India’s fuel demand is expected to climb 5% in FY23, according to forecasts issued by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
- India’s fuel consumption (particularly oil demand) is expected to climb to 214.5 million tonnes (MT) in FY23, up from 203.3 MT in FY22, according to government forecasts.
13. According to India Ratings, GDP growth would be 8.6% in FY22.
- India Ratings has lowered its GDP growth prediction for 2021-22 to 8.6 percent from the previous consensus of 9.2 percent.
- The National Statistical Organisation (NSO) is expected to estimate FY22 real gross domestic product growth at Rs 147.2 lakh crore, according to an India rating research. This translates to an 8.6% GDP growth rate, down from the 9.2% predicted in the first advance estimate released on January 7, 2022.

14. Sanjeev Sanyal, the Finance Ministry’s Principal Economic Advisor, has been appointed as a full-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), according to the panel’s chairman Bibek Debroy.
- The appointment is for a two-year period. During the pandemic, he counselled the finance ministry on how to design economic policies. The EAC-PM is an independent group set up by the Union government to provide economic advice to the Prime Minister.

15. The Indian Air Force will take part in ‘Exercise Cobra Warrior 22’ in the United Kingdom.
- At Waddington, UK, the Indian Air Force will take part in a multi-nation air exercise dubbed “Exercise Cobra Warrior 22.” It will take place from March 6 to 27, 2022.
- The exercise will include fighter aircraft from the UK and other Air Forces, as well as IAF Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas. Cobra Warrior is the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom’s largest annual exercise.
